Materials List:
- Fabric for Shade (calculations included in instructions)
- Lining (optional, but recommended)*
- 1” x 2” Mounting Board (cut ¼” less than finished width of shade)
- Screw Eyes (calculated for your shade size)
- Awning Cleat
- Roman Shade Ring Tape (calculated for your shade size) or Individual Shade Rings 3/8 inch diameter) **
- Shade Cord (calculated for your shade size)
- Metal Weight Rod, 1 inch shorter than width of shade
- 2 inch long screws (one for each end of board and one for every 36” of board length)
- Point turner (for lined version)
- Water erasable fabric marker
- Staple Gun
- Level
- Iron-on fusible tape (if matching repeats)
- Carpenter’s square
- Cord Drop
*select a lining fabric that is compatible weight to your decorator fabric. Hold the two fabrics together and they should be equal in weight. Use fabric that is designated as lining fabric for the best results.
**Roman shades are moved up and down by pulling on cords that are on the back of the shade. A cord goes through the rings to arrange the folds. The rings can be attached individually or you can use ring tape where the rings are already stitched to a tape in preset increments.
Suitable fabrics include quilting-weight cotton, light-weight decorator fabric and other light to medium-weight woven fabrics. Do not use stretchy fabrics such as t-shirt knits.
