Coming home should be the best part of the day. And, coming home to place that you decorate yourself makes it that much better. Imagine, after a long day at work, sinking into a profusion of pillows (all made in your favorite colors—of course). Or serving dinner to the cutest guy in the world on one-of-a-kind place mats that you whipped up the night before. And spending a rainy afternoon watching old movies snuggled under a fabulous duvet cover that you designed and took only a few hours to make.
My mission in writing books and patterns is two-fold. First, I want to provide you with to-the-point information to help you decorate your home in your unique style. By providing you with tools, not rules, you make the ultimate choices. Secondly, I want to show you how sewing is the best way to subvert the “cookie cutter décor” syndrome that every retailer insists you need.
I’ve always marched to my own little tune and sewing is my main melody. I enjoy the fact that I can see something in a magazine and in a day or two have my own version. And, because I made it myself, no one else will ever have what I created since I selected the color, the fabrics, and all the finishing touches. I want you to be able to do the same.
Even though I’ve made it my passion to learn everything I can about sewing, I certainly don’t think need to do the same to sew items for your home. All you should care about is having a good time with great results. My job is to make sure that happens.
Home. That little part of the world that is all yours.
